Architect - Laura Dahlquist Krekorian of 40 Main Street, Wakefield, Rhode Island

Laura Krekorian has been practicing architecture in southern Rhode Island for over fifteen years. She is a registered architect in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts and designs projects mainly for residential clients. Each project is created for a specific site and for the individual client and their wish list, working through many series of sketches and drawings.   The projects will typically take cues from the site for lay-out of spaces and incorporate the client's needs, tempered by zoning constraints and building code requirements.  These houses incorporate simple design solutions with efficient lay-out of spaces to minimize their footprint.  They are homes that are thoughtfully situated on the site to use natural lighting, with careful placement of openings for cross-ventilation and view corridors which help to make the houses not only more functional but more energy efficient and more pleasing to experience.

Newport Geothermal, LLC - Newport Geothermal, LLC was established by Hazard Stewart in the spring of 2008. After watching the fluctuations in energy costs, and realizing the global issues involved with the reliance on fossil fuels, Newport Geothermal set forth to help business and home owners reduce this reliance. Newport Geothermal feels a personal responsibility that environmental stewardship and the responsible usage of our energy sources is crucial to the long term well being of our planet. Geothermal heating and cooling systems have the lowest life-cycle cost of any system available, and require no fossil-fuel back-up. Newport Geothermal understands that the long-term problem of the dependence on fossil-fuels is not going away, and we are here to help ease the transition. We are firm believers that water-source heat pumps operate on a fair exchange with the earth. The water we take from the ground is returned to the earth with a small temperature differential; and nothing is introduced to the earth that would not already be there.

In 1993 the EPA named geothermal heat pumps as the most energy efficient,  environmentally clean and most cost effective space-conditional systems available. However, the efficiently of the geothermal heat pump is only as good as the quality of the installation. The geothermal system is truly a system that is only as strong as the sum of all its parts. Assuring the quality of every piece of the installation and managing the installation as a whole is our first priority. Mr. Stewart has a strong background in all things construction, and has focused much of his career in Project Management; more closely, project management through the principle of client satisfaction first. Mr. Stewart has a Bachelor of Architecture from the Wentworth Institute of Technology, is an IGSHPA Accredited Installer (International Ground Source Heat Pump Association), an active member of the USGBC (United States Green Building Council). Mr. Stewart has a great deal of experience in the field of building construction, and has been involved in many different facets of a project, from being hands-on, to Project and Team Management in large office settings. Newport Geothermal, LLC was founded as a single source vehicle to bring geothermal heating and cooling systems to the end users as seamlessly as possible. Our main objective is providing personalized service to our clients from the first meeting to the long-term relationship through service and maintenance of the system. Working as an advocate for the client and protecting their project goals and demanding unparalleled quality, we strive to install the best systems available, and continue to improve and educate ourselves to allow growth and improvement. Simplifying the process for the client is our number one goal. There is a great deal of coordination and planning when converting an existing building from a standard HVAC system to a geothermal system, the management and coordination of all of the parts and people involved is extremely important. As well, in the setting of new construction accuracy and attention to details will provide a system that operates as designed. There are several professions involved; ensuring the proper coordination, safety and professionalism of all of the people involved is something that can be measured in the success of each project. Our unique business model allows our geothermal systems to be something that will serve the client and building occupants for many, many years to come.
