Control
The home will utilize the latest in home automation technology that controls all of the home's sub systems whether it is HVAC and lighting or appliances and security. Lighting control is an essential part of maintaining a sustainable home and being energy efficient. All of the CFL lights in the home will be able to be dimmed to save electricity and programmed to be off when not needed. Preset lighting scenes such as "Away" and "Night" will ensure that lights are not left on in unoccupied rooms for both modern efficiency and convenience. Room sensors will create triggers for one and off modes for maximum lighting efficiencies and energy savings.

HVAC control is another essential component of living green. The HVAC system in the home will be able to be controlled from anywhere to ensure it is always comfortable, but also energy efficient. The project will provide real life examples of how families can manage their home systems at home or away. See how easily you can dial into the home's server and access the HVAC to slowly and efficiently ramp up the heat or AC so it's comfortable when you arrive home as opposed to pushing the system to max when you walk in the door. Though final decisions on the HVAC system have not been decided, being able to monitor and manage your energy usage is a critical element of control the family is looking to implement and showcase.

One of the most wasteful elements in any home is water. The home will have full monitoring control over the home's water usage including a high performance irrigation control system so that water is used responsibly and not wasted. One touch access to the irrigation control will be achieved through the home automation system so that watering schedules can easily be manipulated based on weather and town restrictions. The wine cellar will feature a wine management System. Ok, so it's a luxury item, but life does have its little luxuries. via a simple to use touch screen interface you can quickly see what you have, where it is and most importantly, when to drink it.

From lighting to systems control, Green Life Smart Life will showcase how control can make your home as green as you intended it to be.
