What is Green Life Smart Life?
Green Life Smart Life is a green home building project that demonstrates how families can make lifestyle choices that are both sustainable and realistic to meet their needs without compromising the environment's needs.

Starting with a 1-acre lot on the beautiful Rhode Island coast, the homeowners decided to take on the task of applying their day to day eco-friendly habits to their new home building project and found that the challenges of limited resources and information had to be resolved in order for everyone to truly understand what it means to go green. Combining green building with smart home technology, Green Life Smart Life embraces the notion that modern day living can and should go hand in hand with sustainability and environmental stewardship.

This website will showcase the project and the homeowners' educational journey through the process of green building and LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, with all its joys and pitfalls along the way. With a unique set of building constraints that come hand-in-hand with building green and building to maximize ocean views, the project will be a step-by-step demonstration for those families and individuals looking to adopt green practices in their lives.

Green building is just one piece of a much larger puzzle. Green Life Smart Life hopes to serve everyone with tools and resources to navigate through the sometimes confusing and complicated route of living a lower impact life. For more information on how smart technology can both enhance and create better energy efficiency throughout a home using monitored HVAC systems, central VAC, whole-house lighting control and other home automation features, the Smart button will help navigate through these topics.
